Colwell Bay (direct access from Brambles Chine)
This small and sandy beach is tucked away on the quieter west coast of the Island with panoramic views of the Solent. The beach is unspoilt and a popular location for locals and visitors with panoramic views of the Solent.
A promenade links Colwell Bay with Totland Bay just around the headland.


Water sports are popular at Colwell Bay. Water Safety Zoning is provided to ensure that bathers and recreational users are separated.
During the summer season Colwell beach is litter picked on a daily basis and large amounts of seaweed are removed and taken to local farmers for use as compost.
To save carrying chairs and sunbeds down onto the beach, they can be hired from the beach shop for a very modest £1 for a deckchair, £2.50 for a sunbed and £1.50 for a windbreak per day (Prices correct as at Summer 2006).
The beach shop also sells Wetsuits, Inflatables, Beach tents, Nets, Crabbing Lines, Flip Flops and the most essential Ice Creams and drinks at very reasonable prices.


Colwell Bay provides entertainment for all ages.
With local Cafes providing catering to suit all tastes, deckchairs, beach huts, water sports and the local amusement arcade.
Colwell Bay has flown the Seaside Award Flag since 1996 and has also been successful in displaying its Water Quality award which has been the highest standard for the last five years.

Totland Bay (approx 2 miles from Brambles Chine)
Since 2001 Totland Bay has not only been able to fly the Seaside Award Flag but has also seen an increasing improvement in its Water Quality.
Totland seafront is great for those who enjoy a quiet relaxing time on the beach. There is a Water Front Restaurant and a cafe on the Pier and is an easy walk along the promenade from Colwell Bay

Freshwater Bay and Town (approx 2 Miles from Brambles Chine)
Freshwater is the nearest town to Brambles Chine where there are plenty of shops, pubs, takeaways and banks with cashpoints.
West Wight Sports Centre has a public indoor swimming pool.
Up on the cliff top you will find an 18 Hole Golf course.

The Needles Rocks and Alum Bay (approx 4 Miles from Brambles Chine)

The Needles Theme Park has a chairlift to the beach and a theme park for the kids.
From the beach you can see the famous coloured sands or take a boat trip to view the Needles rocks and lighthouse.
